URBAN SPACE FOR A DEFINITION OF CONTEMPORARY ART

The urban dimension permeates our lives, as the city forms the neuralgic centre of our world. The vibrant energy of human existence is concentrated in these centres of our civilization. Here, activities of all kinds and character are born, develop and expire. The relationship between the city and its periphery gives rise to the pulsating development of ideas, concepts, actions, evolutions and involutions. The city is at the same time common base, platform and starting point for cultural and scientific development and research, and is moreover the beginning of every contemporary artistic discourse.

Due to continuing problems with the authorities we have unfortunately had to change our plans. Since we are no longer allowed to use the premises of the barracks, we have therefore altered the programme and will be staging some of the exhibitions in alternative urban spaces inside the F. Rossi barracks, i.e. containers, tents and a series of [un]defined satellite venues in the inner city. All exhibitions that had to be cancelled due to the aboved-mentioned circumstances, are now marked in red.We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause that fall outside our responsabilities, and wish you a great time and a good stay in Merano with our festival team and our even more subversive programme.
